Man of Knowledge

Dedicated to Gwydion with loving and heartfelt gratitude

I’m a man of knowledge I’m a cunning man
The heart of the Labyrinth is in my hand
I arm myself with words that heal
For love and compassion forge my shirt of steel

My dragons are all in human form
And the internet serves as my horn
My voice rings out just like a bell
Calling all who are ill to my sacred well

I choose my battles with loving care
Show you’re not alone ‘cause I am there
So many fall to circumstance
Forget the art of war is the art of dance

I’m a man of knowledge I’m a cunning man
The heart of the Labyrinth is in my hand
I arm myself with words that heal
For love and compassion forge my shirt of steel

My Soul’s Ache

You are under my skin
And in my bones
My blood sings
For you
When you are near
I feel the deepest
Throbbing
As my veins
Reach
For you
Blood to blood
Your touch
On my shoulder
Stroke of my cheek
Calls to something
Hidden
Deep within the shadows
Of this soul’s
Essence
Beyond mortality
Beyond physicality
My ache is
Never
Sated
Unless you are near
Your voice
The sweetest music
Slides
Down my throat
Like nectar
Sending me into
Ecstatic
Dreams
I breathe up stars
Knowing the wonder of
Your universe
Is right here
In this rose that blooms
Where my heart
Should lie
The depths of
Nothingness
Is kept at bay by the
Glint
Of your eyes
Captured
In the mirror of
Its blackness
You hold me
Within your red
And green
And I watch
As all else
Fades
Until there is
Only you
Drawn out like
A sigh
On a cool
Summer breeze
I drift
Over the rainbowed mist
Of the everlasting
Dust
Dancing
To the cosmic ebb
And flow
At once mountain
Rock
And sand
You fill me up
Until I
Writhe
In your brightness
And glow
Like the fullest
Moon
You are within
Every
Part
Of me
Skin, bone
And breath
My life
A song meant
For you
Alone
Joy of my heart
My soul’s
Sweet
Ache

Grandmother Weaver Grandfather Green

Grandmother Weaver, weave your web
We feel your threads about our head
Weaving and spinning thread by thread
Grandmother Weaver, weave your web

Grandfather Green, come spread your cloak
Of quartz bone and granite holly and oak
Through leaves and twigs your fingers poke
Grandfather Green, come spread your cloak

This Darkness

I am wild
I am nature’s child
And I run through this darkness

With my claws and teeth
Search for what’s beneath
As I explore this darkness

Through the woods I prowl
Bare my teeth and howl
And I challenge this darkness

And then the prey is gone
And so the hunt is on
As I smell fear in this darkness

So off I race
As I give chase
To the one who flees in this darkness

And the fear smells good
Racing through the wood
I am the heart of this darkness

Till the prey falls down
Till my teeth pull down
And I hear screams in this darkness

And the flesh I tear
And the bones lay bare
So white and red in this darkness

And my flesh stained fangs
End my hunger pangs
As I gorge in this darkness

Feel the power serge
As our bodies merge
And hear me roar in this darkness

And I become aware
Of their still-eyed stare
And I am dead in this darkness

I look down on me
My torn flesh I see
And I mourn in this darkness

And salt water stir
And disturbs this fur
As I change in this darkness

And my truth I speak
I am not a freak
And I am whole in this darkness

For I am strong
I will carry on
And I’m at home in this darkness

Moon crowns this night
With stars so bright
I am one with this darkness

And the ground is me
And everything I see
And I am all in this darkness

I am wild
I am nature’s child
And I run through this darkness

Piper

Written during a weekend workshop on the Pied Piper, November 2015

Piper why’d you come to me
If a shadow’s all you’ll be
Who haunts me whether I wake or sleep
Lead me from this endless deep

Piper show your face to me
Such brilliant radiance I’d see
Appear to me and take my hand
Show to me your fabled land

Piper play your pipe for me
Lead me from my misery
Dance me through life’s ebbs and flows
Help me overcome my woes

Piper play your dream for me
A believer maybe then I’d be
Who takes life’s chances by the horns
Embracing life in its many forms

Piper such enchantments bring
Enticing all around to sing
Forget illusions that we hold
Understand our true pot of gold

Forget illusions that we hold
And understand our true pot of gold

WildWood Strut

Dedicated with love to Toad, whose wild and free spirit is an inspiration to all who know them

Travelling down the serpent road
Just to see how far it goes
Acting like I just don’t care
Hey Wow! Saw Stag and Bear
Sylphs salamanders undines and gnomes
Salute to the elements in their homes
Hanging out with Fox and Owl
Look Out! They’re on the prowl

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Weaver guides my way with silken thread
On Grandfather’s bones through his leafy head
Look into the distance what do I see?
Hey You! Are you my destiny?
Down to see my lady with Raven Wings
Her skull crowned in silver moon’s crescent rings
Up to see Lucifer Lord of Light
Oh My! Been quite a night

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Amble through the woods all shadows and dark
Lights guide my way with their firefly spark
Maidens all around me in fairy ring
Shut Up! Can you hear them sing?
Prancing with my fairy lover through the trees
Our laughter is infectious like some fluey sneeze
Embracing that bright green light within
You all! Are my WildWood kin

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while.

Lorelei

Dedicated to my wonderful friend and teacher Lorelei in deepest heartfelt gratitude and love

Siren call siren song
From off the rock all night long
Winding weaving across the waves
Reaching out to better days

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

I am Lorelei of the lovely locks
Come follow my voice as it wanes and wafts
Through the streets down to the shore
Into the water I adore

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Come to me my love down in the depths
For I yearn for you to caress
Hold me here in my pool so deep
Give to me your heart to keep

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Medusa’s Heart

Medusa once was a priestess
She served her Goddess body mind and soul
Poseidon came he saw he conquered
Took her flesh and swallowed all

Medusa preyed up to her lady
Told her what it was all about
Her Lady came and then she cursed her
Changed her form and cast her out

If Medusa calls will you answer
In Medusa’s eyes what will you find
Coldness, hardness spite and anger
Evil deeds from an evil mind

But Medusa’s heart is not a diamond
It’s flesh and blood and not this stone
Though Medusa’s form may be a gorgon
It’s a living death to always be alone

Medusa waited in her temple
With companions Of silent stone
Though many came with swords to court her
They met their fate she remained alone

But she knew one day that he would
Stride across her hallowed hall
And for his razored kiss she waited
To end her curse once and for all

If Medusa calls will you answer
In Medusa’s eyes what will you find
Coldness, hardness spite and anger
Evil deeds from an evil mind

But Medusa’s heart is not a diamond
It’s flesh and blood and not this stone
Though Medusa’s form may be a gorgon
It’s a living death to always be alone
