The Mirror

Dedicated with love to Mama Alto, who’s grace, social conscious and amazing voice inspired this piece.

A voice comes from the darkness
A ghostly thread of light
It sparks the air around us
Like the stars light up the night
Her voice weaves all around us
As she holds us in her sway
She says my hands they hold a Mirror
Who’ll look on it this day

And the Mirror pulses once or twice
As shapes take form from Shadow and Light
They dance around us with a mind of their own
No longer spectres they are flesh and bone

We are all surrounded
By bigotry and greed
So much hungry grasping
For things we just don’t need
And those who are in power
And could use if for such good
Turn away from compassion
And say we also should

And the Mirror pulses once or twice
As shapes take form from Shadow and Light
They dance around us with a mind of their own
No longer Spectres they are flesh and bone

Her voice weaves through this bleakness
Of poison, waste and lies
A hand ignites a beacon
Of hope into these skies
Those who see it rise in numbers
Defiant voices scream
We refuse to be tools of hatred
When love lives in our dreams

And the Mirror pulses once or twice
As shapes take form from Shadow and Light
They dance around us with a mind of their own
No longer spectres they are flesh and bone

And the Mirror pulses once or twice
As shapes take form from Shadow and Light
They dance around us with a mind of their own
No longer spectres we are flesh and bone

We are flesh and bone

Ten Thousand Cranes

Dedicated with love to Yasu

Ten thousand cranes I give to you
Ten thousand more each time you’re blue
A thousand for each ache and moan
As broken glass grates the bone
And you sigh for release
From this painful beast
Remember, remember, remember
This

That every crane has a prayer for your healing
That reaches for the stars
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And sings to the moon above
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
That comes straight from the heart
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And each one is sent with love

Ten thousand cranes to see once more
Your gracious bow to great applause
Ten thousand to hear once again
Your voice sing out without the pain
To see you glide spin and twirl
To each guitar riff swirl
Remember, remember, remember
This

That every crane has a prayer for your healing
That reaches for the stars
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And sings to the moon above
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
That comes straight from the heart
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And each one is sent with love

Each one is sent with love

That every crane has a prayer for your healing
That reaches for the stars
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And sings to the moon above
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
That comes straight from the heart
Every crane has a prayer for your healing
And each one is sent with love

Each one is sent with love
Sent from the stars with love

Dance with me Shiva

Om Namah Shivaya
Dance with me Shiva
Show me your dance of
Devotion, Compassion and Life

Om Namah Shivaya

When I am filled with
The toxins of hate and
I want to destroy
You drink those toxins away

Om Namah Shivaya

I look at your wonders
Sky kisses land and
I see in your hands the
Infinite Divine every day

Om Namah Shivaya

Om Namah Shivaya
Dance with me Shiva
Show me your dance of
Devotion, Compassion and Life

Om Namah Shivaya
Om Namah Shivaya

Beltane Whispers

If you choose to come and linger
Place upon your lips one finger
Hear the wind He knows our secrets
But if you spill them you will regret

We ask for blood and you will bleed yes
If not offered then we will take it
It’s our tithe for you to be here
And if given your sight is freed dear

Before your eyes our vision shimmers
Of our power your knowledge glimmers
On this day the curtains thin dear
And you and I we both can be here

My beating heart lies just beneath you
My teasing laugh is just beyond you
No matter how far or long you reach dear
The edge of me you’ll never breach dear

I am not as the others paint me
I’m not some pretty sugared dainty
If I’m primed I’m sure to thrill you
But if you cross me I will kill you

For I’ve an eye for those who are false
And if you lie then I’ll have your pulse
I’ll poke and prod and beat and break you
For that’s the way that I remake you

I’ll bind you up or spin you about
I’ll give you sight or gouge your eyes out
I’ll lift you high above it all
Then watch you fly or I’ll watch you fail

I’ll wear the form that terrifies you
And then I’ll sneak up right behind you
As you watch these visions streaming
Careful you don’t head home screaming

Beyond our Hills our call we send out
Awaken those whose ears will hear our
Silken voices threading this place
Green grey brown they colour His face

He has you tightly on a leash dear
Won’t let you stray beyond His reach dear
So be careful how you treat Him
Kindness comes from how you greet Him

Beneath your feet treasures await you
But dig them up and they’ll forsake you
For all that golden does not glisten
And all we ask is for you to listen

The ground it hungers for you to feed them
Hungry mouths awaiting seeding
If all you do is just to stand there
Before your eyes all will be laid bare

If you choose to come and linger
Place upon your lips one finger
Hear the wind He knows our secrets
But if you spill them you will regret

Things I had forgotten

Inspired by Blodeuwedd.

When I first saw him
When our eyes first met
He reminded me
Of things I had forgotten

Like how brightly
The stars shine at night
Moonlight on skin
Dancing on the water
Spiralling through the leaves
Whispered promises
Silenced by the wind

And he called to me
And he sang of
Mossy covered stone
And dark vein-streaked trees
Buried deep within
Those hollowed sacred mounds
From whence I came

I remember
I was flying up so high
Feeling so alive
Protected by the dark
Everything was so clear
And within my grasp
Life and death and life

And he called to me
And he sang of
Mossy covered stone
And dark vein-streaked trees
Buried deep within
Those hollowed sacred mounds
From whence I came

When I first saw him
When our eyes first met
He reminded me
Of things I had forgotten

Circle Round

Written during Cloud Catcher Witchcamp 2017

The song is sung once for each direction cast; when casting below use the final verse reversing the order of branches and roots. The song is intended to be sung with motion – raising a hand, drawing a sigil, and empowering it before moving the energy to the next direction point

With our roots down low
And our branches up high
We raise one hand
Toward the sky
Draw a sigil in the air
Place a point of power there
Draw the circle round
Draw the circle round

Final verse

With our branches down low
And our roots up high
We raise one hand
Toward the sky
Draw a sigil in the air
Place a point of power there
Draw the circle round
Draw the circle round
Draw the circle round
Draw the circle round

The Price of Love

Written for and dedicated to Dawn Isodora (http://dawnisidora.com/) in thanks for her beautiful beads and her wonderful awesome self. Thank you for being part of my life x

She searches the world for the perfect bead
To suit her purpose her devotional need
Sews them together with such loving care
A divine gift for someone to wear
Shares them with pride her heart open wide
But then comes the part that she likes the least
Someone enquires how much for this piece

What price can I put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
I work to live but I live to serve
What price do I deserve?

What price can I put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
I work to live but I live to serve
What price do I deserve?

She holds herself with such loving grace
Shares it all within sacred space
Gives all she can she has so much to share
With her community and others who care
A pillar so strong her arms so long
And when people ask why she gives so much
She smiles and says with a whispered hush

What price can I put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
I work to live but I live to serve
What price do I deserve?

What price can I put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
I work to live but I live to serve
What price do I deserve?

Her beautiful beads call out to me
Her heart, her will and devotion I see
But there is no price or tag anywhere
So I seek her out to ask how much for her fare
Her face starts to sink I start to think
Money’s too cold and it’s just not enough
So I give you this song and it’s filled with love

Cause what price can you put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
You work to live but you live to serve
And love’s the price that you deserve

What price can we put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
We work to live but we live to serve
And love’s the price that we deserve

What price can we put on love?
Does it have to cost the stars above?
We work to live but we live to serve
And love’s the price that we deserve
Yes love’s the price that we deserve

Facebook Blues

I look at my facebook
And I see bad news all day
I look at my facebook
And I see bad news all day
No angry emoticons
Are gonna drive that news away

People in West Papua
Are cut down for standing up
People in West Papua
Are cut down for standing up
Politicians’ heads are buried
Anonymous has had enough

The grand old reef is dying
All for a lump of coal
That grand old reef is dying
And all for a lump of coal
Gotta wonder sometimes
If politicians have a soul

School kids are bullied
Cause they tried to be themselves
School kids are bullied
Cause they tried to be themselves
Conservatives are worried
That Safe Schools mean they’ll fry in Hell

They’re logging the old forests
And those possums don’t have no home
They’re logging the old forests
And those possums don’t have no home
Well if they keep on logging
Well soon all be all dead old bones

Can’t go to the bathroom
Unless I’m what they want me to be
Can’t go to the bathroom
Unless I’m what they want me to be
Ain’t gonna let that stop me
Cause all I’m trying to do is pee

Children thrown in prison
Cause they’re fleeing something bad
Children thrown in prison
Cause they’re fleeing something bad
No ‘mount of paranoia
Is gonna stop me from holding their hand

I look at this road I’m walkin’
And I ask if I have liberty
I look at this road I’m walkin’
And I ask if I have liberty
I’m tied up in knots from tryin’
Lucifer won’t you set me free

Gonna set facebook on fire
And release all these chains that bind
Gonna set facebook on fire
And release all these chains that bind
Turn awareness into passion
It’s up to us to help our lights to shine
