Seeking Quicksilver

I once sat sagely
Beneath the tree
And focused on what
Was and wasn’t me
The deep gouged bark
Pressed into my back
I looked up at my oak
Sea of green on black
Branches swaying like
Snakes in the sky
I found myself there
And in my mind’s eye
Noticed I was travelling
And yet sitting still
Body patiently waiting
As the silver soul will
Go travelling off
With the spirits and sprites
Leave day down below
And travel into night
Landing in the dark
My wings disappear
Wrapped all in shadows
The bright ones appear
Surround me laughing
With their glowing Fae lights
Teeth and claws hiding
Behind masks of delight
And I smile truly
As I become me
My human dissolving
And I shed it with glee
Fingers grow longer
And nails and hair
Teeth become sharper
I am more aware
Feeling him near me
Wandering thrill
Knowing his heart
Beats for mine still
We gaze in the waters
Formed by the dew
Our futures entwining
Past and present too
I reach towards him
And he towards me
His eyes quicksilver
An ocean unseen
Since the dawn of time
And far beyond then
Dancing my shadows
Arora tinged skin
Licking that spark
At the centre of self
And it blazes brightly
Flamed serpentine elf
All becomes brighter
Such colours appear
Swirling around me
To hold me right here
Be one forever and
Never look back
Feeling such wholeness
Not that I lack
Something I can’t quite
Fathom or grasp
The fear of it spasms
The death rattle rasps
And that dull ache
Returns with such force
I remember what was
As time takes its course
And I find myself sitting
Beneath that oak tree
Wondering what was
And what wasn’t me

About the poem

Grandmother Weaver Grandfather Green

Grandmother Weaver, weave your web
We feel your threads about our head
Weaving and spinning thread by thread
Grandmother Weaver, weave your web

Grandfather Green, come spread your cloak
Of quartz bone and granite holly and oak
Through leaves and twigs your fingers poke
Grandfather Green, come spread your cloak

WildWood Strut

Dedicated with love to Toad, whose wild and free spirit is an inspiration to all who know them

Travelling down the serpent road
Just to see how far it goes
Acting like I just don’t care
Hey Wow! Saw Stag and Bear
Sylphs salamanders undines and gnomes
Salute to the elements in their homes
Hanging out with Fox and Owl
Look Out! They’re on the prowl

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Weaver guides my way with silken thread
On Grandfather’s bones through his leafy head
Look into the distance what do I see?
Hey You! Are you my destiny?
Down to see my lady with Raven Wings
Her skull crowned in silver moon’s crescent rings
Up to see Lucifer Lord of Light
Oh My! Been quite a night

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Amble through the woods all shadows and dark
Lights guide my way with their firefly spark
Maidens all around me in fairy ring
Shut Up! Can you hear them sing?
Prancing with my fairy lover through the trees
Our laughter is infectious like some fluey sneeze
Embracing that bright green light within
You all! Are my WildWood kin

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
Walking through the leafy green
Surrounded by what’s seen and unseen
Doing the WildWood Strut
Doing the WildWood Strut
With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while

With my emerald eyes and Cheshire Smile
Think I’ll wander here a while.

Lorelei

Dedicated to my wonderful friend and teacher Lorelei in deepest heartfelt gratitude and love

Siren call siren song
From off the rock all night long
Winding weaving across the waves
Reaching out to better days

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

I am Lorelei of the lovely locks
Come follow my voice as it wanes and wafts
Through the streets down to the shore
Into the water I adore

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Come to me my love down in the depths
For I yearn for you to caress
Hold me here in my pool so deep
Give to me your heart to keep

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Alone I sit hair in hand
Fingers entwining a single strand
My eyes are deep, like the sea
Lips encased in mystery

Wildwood Guardians

Far seeing Horned Owl
Judge from up on high
We drink from your crescent cup
And on your wings we fly

Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian

Shape-shifting Cunning Fox
Laughing from the night
Help us shift ‘tween the worlds
We follow quick and bright

Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian

Bountiful Forest Lord
Majestic wise Stag King
Deep wisdoms they flow forth
From your antlered spring

Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian

Love protect and heal us
Cub and Mother Bear
Deep dwelling earthen ones
Show us that you care

Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardian
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardians
Hail and welcome Wildwood Guardians

[For devoking, hail and thank you Wildwood Guardian]

Our Lady

White Lady of the wells
Whisper to me
Healing spirit
Cleansing waters
Seeping through my skin

Red Lady, our Rose Queen
Singing softly
Songs of longing
Passions spreading
Fill my heart with love

Black Lady of the Night
Shadows linger
Hiding secrets
Black suede fingers
Combing through my soul

Our Lady Crescent Crowned
Moonlight Goddess
Shines so brightly
Ever changing
Season’s cyclic guide

Be with us
Awaken us
Help us to see
And to be all we can be

Our Lady Crescent Crowned
Our Crescent Crowned Goddess

His Challenge

Are you willing
Or will you be taken
For I am here
And I’m coming for you

Hoof and horn or teeth
Which will be forsaken
For I am here
And I’m coming for you

Look into my eyes
Such places I’ll take you
For I am here
And I’m coming for you

Walking through the woods
Will it heal or break you
For I am here
And I’m coming
For you.
